ACR Electronics: GlobalFix PRO 406 GPS EPIRB
Category I (Automatic) & Category II (Manual) Models
Description
A step up from entry level EPIRBs, the ACR GlobalFix PRO adds an
enhanced performance GPS receiver to provide the fastest notification
times currently available. Authorities can be alerted to your emergency
and know your position in approximately 2-3 minutes - even in a storm!
This is about 40 minutes, or more, faster than a non-GPS unit, since you
don't have to wait for a polar satellite to pass.
The GlobalFix PRO
broadcasts a unique registered distress signal that not only tells
rescuers where you are, but who you are. The internal GPS acquires your
position upon activation and utilizes a powerful 5 watt 406MHz signal to
relay your distress call to orbiting satellites. As local Search and
Rescue is deployed, a separate homing signal and integrated LED strobe
light guide rescuers to your exact location.
Tap in to the same
field-tested rescue technology used by the U.S. Military, Coast Guard,
NATO, Special Forces and Arctic explorers.
• Category I Automatic
model (#2842): activates in the water, and self-deploys if your vessel
sinks; it includes a fully enclosed, UV stabilized polymer SeaShelter 3
bracket with hydrostatic release; it can also be activated manually
•
Category II Manual model (#2844): activates in the water, but must be
manually deployed; it includes a LowPro3™ bracket for quick removal when
needed
• Professional grade internal GPS engine is optimized for
cold starts, and allows faster location recognition than standard GPS
and non-GPS enabled models - even in adverse conditions; search area
radius is reduced compared to non-GPS models - from 2.3 nm to 0.05mm
(~100 yards)
• Capable of a full-function self-test, so you know it will work when you need it
• Bright LED strobe for location in poor visibility consumes less energy than traditional strobes
•
Exceeds 48 hours operating life at -4F°, typical is 70+ hours, longer
at higher temperatures; Class II (Non-Hazmat) lithium batteries
• 5-year warranty; made in USA
•
An optional paid subscription service is available so that when you
manually test your EPIRB, it sends a signal to an email address or cell
phone, indicating that you are “Okay”
